HOW TO GROOM YOUR DOG

Grooming is an important consideration if you chose a Bichon. You must be prepared for regular grooming, shampooing and trimming.

Long periods of neglect will result in a matted coat and a very unhappy dog. Quite often, the matted coat needs to be cut off leaving your dog looking less attractive and feeling forlorn.

You may also consider keeping your dog's coat cut quite short which still looks quite attractive and makes grooming not so intensive but nevertheless still necessary. Remember to reduce the length of the coat but still maintain the desired shape.

If you have difficulty spending the required time for grooming - consider the purchase of a short haired dog!

Required equipment

Grooming table (or suitable area) with non skid mat and set at a suitable working height for you. There is nothing worse than a sore back while grooming your dog. This will also stop the dog running away

Pin brushes - for general brushing and conditioning of coat

Steel combs - for removal of stubborn dirt or mats

Good quality scissors

Nail clippers

Hairdryer
